Testing Products Online For Free

What are Product Testing Sites and How Do they Work?

You can actually test products online for free!

Product testing sites are websites which allow users to test products for free in exchange for their honest feedback.

There are a few types of product testing sites.

  1. The first is “beta site” and it allows users to test products before they are released to the public.
  2. The second is a “consumer-driven research site” and it allows consumers to provide feedback on products they have already purchased.
  3. The third is “open beta site” and it allows users to try out new products or services before they hit the market.

Try Testing Products!

I love to test products! It’s exciting to try new things that companies develop. I am also able to get products from the survey companies I have signed up with (see surveys here). There are also companies that only send out products to test. Here are a list of companies that have products they are more than willing to give away. All you have to do is sign up, test the product and give a review.

Product Samples is a technology company that works with top brands. It’s easy to join their site. They have different categories that you fill out in order to get products. What I like about this company is that once you fill out your preferences, you will be matched with something that you are interested in. Filling out each category only takes a few minutes. You will see a counter telling you what % you are in order to get products. I completed all the categories and I am at 100% of receiving products. After that they will notify you or you can visit the site to see if any products are available.

This company has a great site where you can test products to help them improve the quality of them. It’s very easy to sign up, simply sign up and click on ‘register for a product test’. You will then be able to view all available products and opportunities.

You must be a Walmart shopper in order to try out these products. Once you click on a tester product, you will be asked some quick questions. If picked from this pool, you will receive an email notification.

When I was chosen, it usually only took a couple of days for me to get the product. You have a little time test the product and then they’ll send you an email when it’s time to post your review.

Influensters is a company that uses your social media to see how you engage in everyday products that you use. The more you review your products, they will in turn offer you products to test. If you love sharing your products on social media then this site is for you. Sharing your products can open the door to be a part of bigger tester companies. I recommend heading over to their site and reading some of the reviews and looking at the various categories. This will give you a fill of what to expect once you join.

Guest Quest

For this company, all you have to do is fill out your information and wait for them to contact you. When they do you will be asked a series of questions regarding products. You can click yes or no about what you prefer to test. I love this because you can get something to test that you are really interested in.

From my experience, I was asked about a number of brand items I use. The survey is quick and It took me only about 3-4 minutes to answer all the questions. If you are selected, they will notify you. The purpose of getting items is to test and give your honest opinion about them.

Scotts Miracle-Gro

This is a great company to test products, but it is not easy to get in. See an invite, join fast! Fortunately, I had a friend looking out and send me an invitation. Once you join, they will send you offers for whatever product they have available. It is important to accept it right away because supplies do not last very long.

Smiley360! It’s like the VIP backstage pass to the world of consumer goods—minus the screaming fans and electric guitars, of course. Basically, Smiley360 is an online community where companies and brands get a chance to put their products in the hands of real consumers like you and me. The catch? They want your honest-to-goodness opinion about it. They’re like, “Hey, you try this, you tell us what you think, and we’ll give you more stuff to try.” A pretty sweet deal if you ask me!

Smiley 360

Here’s how it generally works:

  1. Sign-Up: First things first, you need an account. Your digital ticket to the sample fest!

  2. Qualify: Once you’re in, you’ll often take a short survey, which is the brands’ way of asking, “Hey, are you the kind of person who would actually use this?” It’s like dating, but with laundry detergent and protein bars.

  3. Mission Possible: If you qualify, you’ll be assigned a “mission” (cue the spy music). Basically, they send you a product for free. That’s right, gratis, nada, zilch.

  4. Testing 1, 2, 3: Try out the product. This is the fun part where you get to play mad scientist or discerning critic.

  5. Review Time: After using it, you’ll have to provide feedback, usually in the form of surveys, social media posts, or even video reviews if you’re feeling like a budding influencer.

  6. Rinse and Repeat: Do it all over again with other products!

So, not only do you get to try new stuff, but your opinion could actually influence how companies go about improving their products or how they market them. It’s like you’re part of this grand consumer symphony, and your voice (or, well, your survey responses) matters.

How SampleSource Works

SampleSource operates on a simple premise: “Try before you buy.” They partner with various brands to offer a range of products—from food and cleaning supplies to beauty products. Every so often, they drop a “sample box,” which is basically Christmas morning for frugal folks or anyone curious enough to want to try new stuff. After signing up and filling out a profile, you’re eligible to request these treasure chests of complimentary goodies.

The Catch? Nope, Not Really

Now, you might be thinking, “What’s the catch?” Well, apart from providing your honest feedback on the samples you receive, there really isn’t one. They’re not going to rope you into a subscription or hit you with hidden fees. They won’t even ask you to perform a ritual dance under the full moon (unless you’re into that sort of thing, then by all means, dance away).

Your Profile Matters

The kind of samples you get are tailored to your profile. So if you say you’re into fitness, don’t be surprised if a protein bar sneaks its way into your box. If you’ve got a pet, you might find some new brand of kibble or treats for Fido or Fluffy. In essence, it’s like a matchmaking service but for you and products. “Swipe right” on that organic shampoo or gluten-free cookie, will you?

Spreading the Word

And what do they get out of it? Simple. Brands are banking on you loving their products so much that you’ll spread the word, write a review, or actually buy the full-sized version. It’s a win-win, really. You get to test out products without making a financial commitment, and they get valuable consumer feedback.

The Timing Game

There’s just one teeny-tiny thing you should know: these sample boxes are like limited edition sneakers—when they drop, they’re gone in a flash. You’ve got to keep an eye on your email or their website to know when the next batch is ready to ship. It’s like waiting in line for concert tickets, except you’re comfortably lounging in your pajamas, and the only screaming fans are the ones inside your head shouting, “Free stuff, yaaaay!”

sample source

SampleSource, the gateway to freebie heaven! Picture this: a platform that lets you test out an array of products without spending a dime. I mean, who doesn’t like getting things for free? It’s like the adult version of finding a quarter under your pillow from the “Tooth Fairy.”

So there you have it, a brief rundown on SampleSource. It’s basically like having a birthday multiple times a year, except you don’t age and the cake is optional. Give it a go, and let the freebies rain down upon you!

Getting Special Invitations Online to Test products for Free.

If you are in the habit of buying products that you love and use constantly, offer your opinion. I’ve been shopping at Sam’s Club & Walmart frequently, so I fill out surveys when I get a chance. Companies send out product feedback emails looking for user opinions about what they purchased.

I do this because I want others to know how much of an impact the product had on me. You will be amazed at how many companies look for influencers and testers. You can qualify to be in a tester community and receive an invited to join.

Next Steps After Getting your Free Product to Test

When you get a product to test not only give your honest opinion, but be very detailed about why you like or dislike the product. This is because when someone reads your review they want to know if the product was worth your time or not. If you don’t explain why you liked or disliked the product, they won’t know what to make of it. Be very detailed in your reviews! 4-5 sentences is a good length. For example, “The color was great and the finish was impeccable, I felt like it looked expensive.”

Types of Products to Test

There are many types of products that companies send out to test. For example, food, beauty products, and clothing. I have received first aid products, lotions, hair supplies, coffee makers, DVD player, kitchen appliances, household items like toilet and bathroom paper just to name a few. Not only was I able to test and give my honest opinion, but I was able to keep the items.

So go ahead and sign up for some products to test!

I’m a huge fan of a few companies that offer products for testing purposes, so I wanted to share them with you.
